Hi Everyone. It has been a very long time since I last updated my blog. I have made the decision to put the shop on the market. I have been in retail now for 16 years and I feel that it is time for me to move on. I have been offered a fantastic job elsewhere and would love to take on the challenge of doing something completely different. I thought that I would "put it out there" via the blog. I know that there are many people out there that are maybe feeling the same way that I am and might be looking for a new challenge - such as owning a children gift and clothing store. Sorry it has taken so long to update the blog. Things have been a little crazy over the last month. Joh is moving up to Queensland where her family is. I am hoping that she will open a shop up north. If she does, I'll make sure to keep you all posted so you can visit when you're on holidays. Joh has been working for me on and off the last 7 years. I am very lucky to have met her and very fortunate to have her work for me. She treated Cowboys & Angels as well as LittleOwl like her own.

She has been like a little sister! Bye Joshe...........I'll miss you heaps

This is a quick note to let you know that there's going to be a fundraising event on Lonsdale

Street Braddon. We hope that you will be able to make it on 31st May 2009, as all procceds go towards Cancer Council's "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea" iniative.

It starts at 10am till 12.30pm. Come dressed in Alice In Wonderland attire and enjoy a fabulous morning tea with friends and family.

Bonjour,

My name is Sophie, but many people know me as Sophie la Girafe. I thought that I should introduce myself as there are 30 million of me out there in the big wide world. I was born in the olden days 25th May 1961 in France. But I still look exactly the same, no wrinkles, no nothing. I guess that it is true when they say that French woman age well.

I was the first exotic wildlife figure on the market. My father, Monsieur Rampeau made me small enough so that I would be fit in a baby's small hands. I am great for a teething baby.

I am made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea tree. I was designed to stimulate baby's 5 senses.

Sight. My dark and contrasting spots make me recognisable to baby. I soon become a familiar and reassuring object.

Hearing. I squeak which will keep baby amused. This helps baby to understand the link between cause and effect.

Taste. I am perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and I am completely safe. I am made from 100% natural rubber and food paint.

Touch. I am very light and soft to touch.

Smell. The singular scent of natural rubber makes me easy to identify.

I love being around children and watching them grow. This is what I have been doing for 48 years now and have been passed down from generation to generation.

Most of all, I love having my tummy pressed.....it makes me squeak.

We have received a big shipment of forwalls decals. There are some new styles. We spoke to Nat that designs forwalls and told her that we felt it might be a good idea to design a more boyish "add on" decal for the tree. We found that some people really liked the tree but were unsure of the sex of the baby, or thought that the tree was maybe a little too girly. So she came up with another sheet of decals that has more blues and greens. It looks great and works in really well with the tree.

There are also pink cup cakes, pink bird house and jungle friends. These are all part of the new designs

Our first delivery of knitting needles from Artviva has arrived. We have knitting needles in many different colours and sizes as well as knitting kits. The knitting kits include a ball of wool, an original Artviva knitting pattern....either a tea cosy or beanie and a pair of funky knitting needle.

I have been collecting tea cosy's for about two years now and will be attempting to make my own. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally we can start selling on-line. We have had so many inquiries and here it is... in it's early stages. It's great and most importantly, it's easy, especially for me. It means that we can have our blog as well as the on-line store, together, on the one page. We will need a few more days to get everything up and running, but here's a sneaky look. Artviva knitting needles will be arriving in 4 weeks. If you are after a particular size and colour, please let us know and we can add your order onto the shops.

Artviva needles are made from Tasmanian oak. They source the oak from suppliers who adhere to environmentally sustainable forest practices. They are all lovingly handmade to order.

I have know idea how to knit, but plan to keep a few for myself. I think they're so cute!

It's been boiling hot and very humid in Byron. I find myself going to a friends shop out at the Industrial Estate to cool off. The silly thing is that I never go to the beach. There's always a good excuse. Starting this week I need to make more of an effort to go. Although I have been going very early in the mornings for walks, but never for a dip........... too wet!!!

Things now seem to be back as usual at LittleOwl. We are getting a delivery next week of canvas back packs and back to school accessories.

We have been trying out different products at the back room of the shop. But Joh and I have decided that it is a kids clothing and gift store and that is what we should focus on.

So we are clearing all the ladies clothing.

Teapony Tutus and Bell and Boo dress'

Esa from Teapony was kind enough today to drop some more tutus and Bell and Boo dress' to my house. I am getting ready to leave for Canberra this afternoon. So I have nicely folded all the dress and tutus for their trip to home. I'll have them at the shop by Friday afternoon.

I am looking forward to this trip to Canberra. I know that it will be a very busy one and coming back to Byron Bay will be like a holiday. Joh has me working which means I'll be catching up with old friends and seeing new babies. I also have my nephews Christening and will be fitting in a trip to Wagga Wagga to have a early Christmas with my partners family. It sure is the silly season.

We are excited to introduce a little label from Byron Bay called Edelweiss. Her focus is bold vintage fabrics and comfort. All dress are made from 100% cotton and have french seam finish. Edelweiss dress' are designed for the child to grow into. First worn as a dress then as a top. The armholes are deep and there is a lot of fullness in the bodice............. these will last for years and can be worn by the older sister.

She has also introduced adult sizes in great fresh retro and vintage prints.

At the moment we have Minti, Munster, Littlescruff, Infancy and my favourite, Polka from the Gold Coast. Another popular label that will be arriving next week is Tiny Mammoth and a organic range, Nature Baby. We will also be getting a delivery of Delingos and Golden Book building blocks.
