Hi Everyone. It has been a very long time since I last updated my blog. I have made the decision to put the shop on the market. I have been in retail now for 16 years and I feel that it is time for me to move on. I have been offered a fantastic job elsewhere and would love to take on the challenge of doing something completely different. I thought that I would "put it out there" via the blog. I know that there are many people out there that are maybe feeling the same way that I am and might be looking for a new challenge - such as owning a children gift and clothing store. Forwalls

Forwalls decal have arrived. We have ordered extra of the Forest Friends (picture above) and the bird house as these two are the most popular. Artviva knitting needles

Our Artviva delivery of Tasmanian Oak knitting needles and knitting kits arrived on Tuesday. We increased our order and have a bigger range of sizes and colours now.

Sorry it has taken so long to update the blog. Things have been a little crazy over the last month. Joh is moving up to Queensland where her family is. I am hoping that she will open a shop up north. If she does, I'll make sure to keep you all posted so you can visit when you're on holidays. Joh has been working for me on and off the last 7 years. I am very lucky to have met her and very fortunate to have her work for me. She treated Cowboys & Angels as well as LittleOwl like her own.

She has been like a little sister! Bye Joshe...........I'll miss you heaps

Lonsdale Wonderland Fundraising Event

Firstly, to all the new people on our mailing list, THANKYOU and WELCOME!

This is a quick note to let you know that there's going to be a fundraising event on Lonsdale

Street Braddon. We hope that you will be able to make it on 31st May 2009, as all procceds go towards Cancer Council's "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea" iniative.

It starts at 10am till 12.30pm. Come dressed in Alice In Wonderland attire and enjoy a fabulous morning tea with friends and family.

There will be:

Raffle Tickets, Art Show, Face Painting, Flea market, Books, Clothes, Jewellery, Bake Sale.

Sophie la girafe

Bonjour,

My name is Sophie, but many people know me as Sophie la Girafe. I thought that I should introduce myself as there are 30 million of me out there in the big wide world. I was born in the olden days 25th May 1961 in France. But I still look exactly the same, no wrinkles, no nothing. I guess that it is true when they say that French woman age well.

I was the first exotic wildlife figure on the market. My father, Monsieur Rampeau made me small enough so that I would be fit in a baby's small hands. I am great for a teething baby.

I am made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea tree. I was designed to stimulate baby's 5 senses.

Sight. My dark and contrasting spots make me recognisable to baby. I soon become a familiar and reassuring object.

Hearing. I squeak which will keep baby amused. This helps baby to understand the link between cause and effect.

Taste. I am perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and I am completely safe. I am made from 100% natural rubber and food paint.

Touch. I am very light and soft to touch.

Smell. The singular scent of natural rubber makes me easy to identify.

I love being around children and watching them grow. This is what I have been doing for 48 years now and have been passed down from generation to generation.

Most of all, I love having my tummy pressed.....it makes me squeak.

Ivy Designs winter delivery will be in store this Tuesday.  Here's a peak of just one of the styles we're receiving.  These gorgeous little corduroy pinafore dress' have handcrafted love birds siting on a branch.  We will be recieving them in both colours.

Lapinos Bunny has left Melbourne for Littleowl Shop. We thought Lapinos bunny would make a cool Easter gift. Something a little different, but no substitute for chocolate.

Easter Trading Hours

Closed Easter Friday. Closed Easter Sunday. Closed Easter Monday. We will be opened on Saturday. FYI. Unit Concepts, I trip I skip, Pocket Monster and Bourgeois Pig will be opened. The Hive will be closed over the four days of Easter. Happy Easter. Make sure you eat heaps of chocolate.... yummy!!!! ( I am doing weight watchers)

We have received a big shipment of forwalls decals.  There are some new styles.  We spoke to Nat that designs forwalls and told her that we felt it might be a good idea to design a more boyish  "add on" decal for the tree.  We found that some people really liked the tree but were unsure of the sex of the baby, or thought that the tree was maybe a little too girly. So she came up with another sheet of decals that has more blues and greens.  It looks great and works in really well with the tree.

There are also pink cup cakes, pink bird house and jungle friends.  These are all part of the new designs

 

Just In Time for Winter

Our first delivery of knitting needles from Artviva has arrived. We have knitting needles in many different colours and sizes as well as knitting kits. The knitting kits include a ball of wool, an original Artviva knitting pattern....either a tea cosy or beanie and a pair of funky knitting needle.

I have been collecting tea cosy's for about two years now and will be attempting to make my own. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!

LittleOwl Shop On Line....Soon

Finally we can start selling on-line. We have had so many inquiries and here it is... in it's early stages. It's great and most importantly, it's easy, especially for me. It means that we can have our blog as well as the on-line store, together, on the one page. We will need a few more days to get everything up and running, but here's a sneaky look. It's safe and is backed by pay-pal. Stay tuned. I am sooo excited. This really gives us the chance to promote the shop and many of the local designers that we stock......... yippie!!!!!!

New Miss Haidee

Here's a sneak preview of some of the dresses and tomboy pants that I just picked up from Miss Haidee. The Tomboy pants (pictured above) and the dresses will be in shop by Friday. We are also introducing the Miss Haidee romper that is great for this HEAT. There are so many beautiful dresses to choose from, but I think, I've picked the best. Artviva knitting needles will be arriving in 4 weeks. If you are after a particular size and colour, please let us know and we can add your order onto the shops.

Artviva needles are made from Tasmanian oak. They source the oak from suppliers who adhere to environmentally sustainable forest practices. They are all lovingly handmade to order.

I have know idea how to knit, but plan to keep a few for myself. I think they're so cute!

It's been boiling hot and very humid in Byron. I find myself going to a friends shop out at the Industrial Estate to cool off. The silly thing is that I never go to the beach. There's always a good excuse. Starting this week I need to make more of an effort to go. Although I have been going very early in the mornings for walks, but never for a dip........... too wet!!!

Things now seem to be back as usual at LittleOwl. We are getting a delivery next week of canvas back packs and back to school accessories.

We have been trying out different products at the back room of the shop. But Joh and I have decided that it is a kids clothing and gift store and that is what we should focus on.

So we are clearing all the ladies clothing.
